UNBUILT AWARD 2024 / Igniting Architectural Innovation

Where creativity meets recognition

Last week we submitted our proposal for Buildner's Unbuilt Award 2024 stands as a grand celebration of architectural creativity and innovation, dedicated to honoring the brilliance of unrealized designs.

It recognizes the profound value embedded within the creative process - the ideas and visions that, while not brought to life, embody the spirit of architectural exploration and ingenuity. This competition honors the creative journey of architects and designers, providing a stage for the ideas that push boundaries and shape the future.

Concepts, completed or in progress, seen or unseen

Participants were invited to submit their work, offering unlimited freedom to highlight their creativity and vision. Whether projects still on paper, detailed plans waiting to be realized, or conceptual ideas seeking recognition, all forms of unrealized projects were welcome.

Small, medium large? Submit!

Submissions were classified as small, medium or large, so each project gets the recognition it deserves. Buildner aims to showcase the incredible potential of these unrealized projects, applauding the imagination and commitment of architects and designers who strive for innovation and excellence.

Categories

We have chosen one of three categories based on the size of the project

  • Small Wonders : up to 100 sqm

  • Medium Marvels: from 101 to 999 sqm

  • Large Visions: over 1.000 sqm

Prizes

Buildner will recognize one winner in each of the three scale-based categories and award five honorable mentions in each category as well. Additionally, there will be a special award for the best presentation. All winners and honorable mentions will be featured in a printed book to showcase their innovative work.

The winners have been announced on December 18th , 2024 .

We participated at this competition in the category "Medium Marvels" with the Hedgehog project that was awarded in 2011 at the Contrumat in Barcelona and also presented in 2012 for the Information Pavilion of the Olympic Games project at Ecobuild now Futurbuild in London .

The Itinerant Marine Museum aims to bring marine science knowledge to the entire Baja California Sur region, fostering a deeper understanding of the marine environment. With its dynamic and interactive design, the museum serves as a space for education and engagement, offering hands on learning experiences, especially for children. Inspired by the shape of a sea hedgehog.
